Sweets substitute?!?!

The hardest part of this challenge is definitely going to be the 3-sweets-a-week deal.  I'm not alone, right?!  Let's be real, it's asking a lot to limit myself to 3 sweets a day.  Ugh...this was almost a deal-breaker for me, but luckily Tina convinced me otherwise.  So while I put all that yummy Halloween booty out of sight (but not yet out of mind), I'm wondering if any of you have good ideas about feeding my sweet tooth (ahem, sweet teeth) in between those 3 treats.  Ideas???  This is all I've come up with on my own, so please add to this list!!

- yogurt (if you're a lemon fan like me, try "muller, fruit up, luscious lemon"...it's very dessert-esque!)
- 100% fruit juice
- whatever fruit has the most natural sugar

(I love that there is no calorie counting in this challenge!)

Thanks, in advance!

  1. One of my favorite indulgences is ice cream (and, as I've already admitted, I'm not very good at the whole moderation thing). One way I satisfy my craving is simply blending some frozen fruit until it's ice cream consistency -- basically a smoothie. Sometimes I add honey or vanilla, but honestly it really doesn't need it. One of my favorites is a strawberry, pineapple and banana combo.

  2. We love those smoothies at my house, too! I blend some OJ in with it and add honey. I also keep gum close by. I have a terrible habit of popping food in my mouth without even thinking, and if I have gum in my mouth, I can't do that! I found an article on webmd with some tips: http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/13-ways-to-fight-sugar-cravings

  4. Now this is what I'm talking about, ladies! Comments, posts, links, support. I so much appreciate everything already coming through. Yesterday I totally rationalized that a snack I ate was not in the "sweets" category, but you have helped me be honest with myself and a change has been made on my tracking sheet. Thank you! Today is a new day...

    1. Yeah, I wondered if 3 fruit snacks qualified as "one" of my sweets today...

  5. Sometimes Ryan and I have been able to find a coconut pineapple juice we like and we'll have a glass of that with popcorn in the evenings, BEFORE 8:30 of course ;-). I'm pretty happy with that as a snack. And I've found some really delicious pears this time of year. Is anyone familiar with "larabars" you can actually make your own. The ingredient list is very short and I will eat half of one if I need a little pick me up. They aren't energy bars, just food. .. here's a link if you're feeling ambitious: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/chocolate-covered-recipes/fudge-baby-mania/
